Laurent Lavaill est né au Québec d’une famille d’artistes catalans. Il étudie les arts graphiques en France à l’école des Beaux-Arts de Perpignan, puis il entreprend un apprentissage de deux ans en impression typographique et se forme à la séparation des couleurs primaires : une technique qui aura une grande influence dans le traitement de la couleur de ses créations picturales.
Après une carrière en graphisme et en illustration, Laurent se consacre maintenant à la peinture. Le désir d’aller à l’essentiel deviendra sa signature. Au cours des dernières années, il a participé à une douzaine d’expositions collectives et a fait l’objet de quatre expositions solo, au Québec et en France.
Born in Québec to a family of Catalan artists, Laurent Lavaill studied graphic arts in France at the École des Beaux-Arts in Perpignan. He later undertook a two-year apprenticeship in typographic printing and trained in primary color separation—a technique that would strongly influence the way color is treated in his pictorial creations.
After a career in graphic design and illustration, he now devotes himself fully to painting. The desire to get to the essence has become his signature. In recent years, he has participated in a dozen group exhibitions and has been the subject of four solo exhibitions in Québec and France.
