Vasile Trif (né en 1975) est aquarelliste, ainsi qu’artiste en techniques mixtes. Il est originaire de Baia Mare, ville de la Roumanie, au nord de la Transylvanie, centre qui occupe une place importante dans l'histoire de l'art roumain. Il prend contact avec le monde des couleurs et des toiles dans l’atelier de son père, peintre, sculpteur et collectionneur d’objets d’art.
Vasile a émigré à Montréal en 2006. Il s'initie aux techniques de la linogravure et de la collographie à l'Atelier d'Arts Anciens Valuarda. Dans sa démarche artistique, Vasile cherche à rendre « l'invisible visible par le mot, le trait et la couleur ».
Titulaire de trois baccalauréats en théologie, philosophie et travail social (Montréal), il est ministre ordonné de l'Église orthodoxe roumaine. À ce titre, il est prêtre de la paroisse Saint-Eustache au Canada.
Vasile Trif (born in 1975) is a watercolorist and mixed-media artist originally from Baia Mare, a city in northern Transylvania, Romania, renowned for its significant place in Romanian art history. He was introduced to the world of color and canvas in his father’s studio, a painter, sculptor, and art collector.
He immigrated to Montreal in 2006, where he studied linocut printmaking and calligraphy at the Atelier d’Arts Anciens Valuard. Through his artistic practice, Vasile Trif seeks to make “the invisible visible through word, line, and color.”
He holds three bachelor’s degrees in Theology, Philosophy, and Social Work (Montréal) and is an ordained minister of the Romanian Orthodox Church. In this capacity, he serves as priest of the Saint-Eustache Parish in Canada.
